From 7-8:30 pm ET, the penultimate Tuesday of each month, Jessica & Nickole will offer a series of drop-in generative writing workshops on Zoom for writers of all ages and levels of experience. Though we recommend you buy the book of prompts that will be the basis for these workshops, the sessions are absolutely free. It’s our intention that these gatherings be a safe, welcoming space open and inspiring for writers of all genres.
Each workshop will be stand-alone, meaning there are no prerequisite sessions required nor any preparations necessary to join. We might build on ideas presented in earlier sessions, but each class will be unique from the rest. Feel free to sign up for as many (or as few) classes as you wish.
In general, we’ll be following the prompts in Write It!, but each session will go deeper than the book allows, talking about the concepts behind the prompts and sharing creative work by others. During each class, there will also be times in which we’ll invite participants to share what they’ve written by speaking out and/or sharing their words in the chat, but this is certainly not required. Depending on class size, we can’t guarantee that everyone who wants to share will have the chance to do so.
Know that we take absolutely no ownership over the work you’ll create in class. What you write is—as always—absolutely yours to share or publish or do with as you please. Should you post work created in our sessions online, we’d love it if you use the hashtag #writeitjournal so that we can stop to appreciate the work created from our time together.
We’ll be meeting each month of the fall and hope this will be a time to do the hard, good work of writing without undue pressure or predetermined goals. We aim to inspire and foster a community that will nurture one another as each of us sets out to continue drafting on our own.
